WINTER 2022

We are confident that the Covid situation will be much improved this summer (2021) enabling easier foreign travel in 2022. Therefor, it is our intention to plan for a normal winter season now that will start from mid December 2021 through to May 2022.  There will be a varied program of courses/battlefield expeditions and perhaps a top tour above the Arctic Circle in May.

The latest news is that we only have one Heroes of Telemark expedition slot available next winter; the end of March to mid April. In addition, we will hold a Winter skills week, that also includes a Battlefield reenactment in Telemark with dates; 2901-0402 2022 There are only 6 places currently available. The week will suit anyone wishing to learn new skills, like snowshoeing, building survival shelters, and try their hand at Biathlon; ski shooting at our Mountain Range. The course will also be useful for those wanting to gain more winter experience and revise their present winter skills. We end the week with a different venue and a spectacular reenactment of the Heroes of Telemark Sabotage route in Rjukan Telemark. For more information contact; briandes@frisurf.no

More information about our winter program will be available throughout the year on a regular basis.

80 th Anniversary of  Op Gunnerside withdrawal (Escape) Expedition 2023.

This reenactment expedition will take place in March 2023. (13 nights) Immediately after the successful Operation at Vemork,  five members of Op Gunnerside made their way to neutral Sweden. It was a hazardous and dangerous journey that required endurance, survival skills and determination. After climbing out of the Rjukan Gorge, and up to the plateau they carried out an 18 day long ski March to Sweden under very challenging conditions persued by 3000 German Mountain troops. We will follow much of this route using the same survival techniques that they used during this incredible journey. A combination of huts, tents, and improvised winter shelters that will include a snowhole. (Conditions permitting) The expedition will be carried out in 3 phases; 1. a short, but intense training phase at Evje in the Setesdal Valley Southern Norway. 2. A reenactment phase at Rjukan and on the Hardanger Vidda skiing 130 kms of the original escape route that includes a ski up to and across the original border crossing location used by the Sabotuers, and 3. A short stay in Oslo visiting the Resistence museum. If you are already a Nordic skier, in reasonably good physical form, can work as an individual within a team in a challenging enviroment, have some solid winter experience of ski touring, interested in War History,  and like a challenge then this trip could be something you are looking for. Only 6 places available; More information on request.
